History

Long-Quan Palace, or the Spring of Dragon Palace, started off in a village of a popurlation just over a hundred people. Families were counted by the dozen, and most of them were farmers. In AD 1779, this palace was established. Along with it came a system of religion. A man by the name of Lin Anjing kept records of the cultural and geographical progressions, which are still available today. One mother announced this crypt a 'Dragon Spit Oasis', or in Chinese, '龍吐甘泉'. and converted to the faith of th temple. Through raised funds, an extension was built to enshrine the mother.

龍目井庄未開拓前，人口僅有百餘人、數十戶而已，以自耕農為主，純樸農家即在本址建造一座福德祠，供奉福德正神，庄民精神寄託之地。史蹟悠久，肇建於清乾隆 44年(西元1779 年)，因無系統及沿革記述而傳說紛云，難以結論。茲就其人文、地理、林家零星記載，林安靜先生帶家眷於乾隆甲辰年(西元1784 年)自福建省泉州府同安縣慶胡保方保社順奉天上二媽來台，一路遊到鳳山縣內惟庄龍目井社定居，供奉二媽在家，經村人指點以筊杯請示緣由。二媽擇此「龍吐甘泉」好地穴，又願與福德祠同廟朝拜，不嫌廟宇太小，後林東和先生發貣庄民募捐拓建，再雕大媽、三媽奉祀。民國18 年林盡忠先生到廈門經商，順道至湄州請湄州媽尊回台同福德祠奉祀。到民國 21年春，林東和先生發起第二次重修。
